Overview & Operations

Brockton Christian Ministries is a not-for-profit federal corporation located in Walkerton Ontario. It is a registered charity with the primary goals of providing access to the Christian faith (opportunities for worship, education, training, etc.), the relief of poverty by providing help to those facing food and shelter instabilities, and addressing youth social and mental health by providing a safe place to gather and receive access to resources.

Brockton Christian Ministries houses the work of two organizations: Brockton Community Church and The BigDoor Walkerton. The Board of BCM, while overseeing the general operations of the corporation, largely gives operational autonomy to these two organizations provided the leaders stay within the goals, purposes and by-laws of the corporation.

Brockton Community Church

This group started meeting in September of 2019 at Walkerton District Community School. Many of them came from a church called Gorrie Bible Fellowship who had grown quite large and was interested in spreading out.

BCC does not belong to any one denomination and is comprised of Jesus followers from many different church backgrounds.

BigDoor Walkerton

Located at 2 Durham St E in Walkerton, the BigDoor began to serve meals shortly after the pandemic. What started as a Tuesday "Comfort Meal" at lunch (for those who needed a warm meal and warm conversation), has turned into a community hub of help where people can easily access community resources (County housing, YMCA, CMHA, help with Ontario Works, etc.) while experiencing the warmth and kindness of the volunteers as they receive homecooked meals.

The BigDoor added a youth drop-in for High School students and is working towards expanding their services to help the diversity of needs in the community.
